“I feel very happy I went on that journey and I saw many things that not everyone can afford to visit. Enriching my knowledge about some foreign culture is something that truly makes me happy after every trip. So, if not now, when?”
On My Daughter is Traveling the World – Thoughts of Ana’s Mom you can read the story of Ana’s Mom – the mom of a Croatian world traveler.
They say it takes courage for a child to go travel, but then, what does it take for a parent to travel the world with their child? Is it courage as well? Or just the trust of a parent in their traveler child? Below, Ana’s Mom is sharing how is it to travel with her daughter.
TravelMore.Live: How come you travel with your daughter? Is it something you usually do?
Ana’s Mom: I like to travel with my daughter because she prepares exceptionally for every journey and knows what to see and do. Every year we travel together around my birthday. She takes me on a journey as a birthday present.
TravelMore.Live: Where did you travel together with your daughter so far?
Ana’s Mom: So far we’ve been to England, Austria, Germany, Hungary, Italy, and now we are off to Japan and South Korea. Not many countries but often we would go to same countries/different cities.
TravelMore.Live: What types of trips you enjoy doing?
Ana’s Mom: Trips I enjoy the most are those that are not that typical and famous among tourists, but we have a lot to see and explore.
TravelMore.Live: What types of trips does your daughter enjoy?
Ana’s Mom: She loves to travel to far away destinations and experience real adventures, national parks, foreign cultures.
TravelMore.Live: Who plans the trip? You, your daughter or a 3rd party (agency/friend, etc)
Ana’s Mom: Mostly my daughter gets the idea, finds cheap ticket offers or just see some beautiful photos that inspires her to travel there. So she plans and organizes everything.
TravelMore.Live: How do you prepare for your trip?
Ana’s Mom: I Google pictures about locations we are going to and information I find about it. But I don`t prepare a lot.
TravelMore.Live: Tell us how is the trip with your daughter?
Ana’s Mom: Trip with my daughter is always interesting, but also a little bit exhausting because she takes me to see as much as possible and we walk a lot.
TravelMore.Live: Do you have different opinions on the road? How do you deal with them?
Ana’s Mom: Mostly we don`t have different opinions on the road, we get along about deals, what to visit, what to eat and what to do.
TravelMore.Live: What are your thoughts when traveling with your daughter?
Ana’s Mom: When traveling with my daughter we mostly discuss about way of life and life conditions that people have in the country we`re traveling to. Mostly we compare it with life standard in Croatia from where we are from. Sometimes I think how not so many people know about so many beautiful places and also I compare it with beauty we have in our country too.
TravelMore.Live: What do you learn from your daughter when traveling together?
Ana’s Mom: What I find beautiful I keep in my heart and I`m proud of being there with my daughter. What I don`t like I learn how it`s better at home.
TravelMore.Live: What do your friends say when you travel with your daughter?
Ana’s Mom: My friends like when I travel, usually everyone gets some souvenir from my trip. They also know that Ana has a big experience in travels so we always bring a lot of interesting stories and experiences to tell.
TravelMore.Live: How do you feel after the trip?
Ana’s Mom: After every trip I feel very happy because I went on that journey and I saw many things that not everyone can afford to visit. Enriching my knowledge about some foreign culture is something that truly makes me happy after every trip.
TravelMore.Live: Did you ever think in going for a long trip to travel with your daughter?
Ana’s Mom: My daughter has a big wish to take me to Hawaii but I`m still not ready to accept it.
TravelMore.Live: What advice you would give/ what would you say to the parents of travelers?
Ana’s Mom: Every parent should let their kids go on adventures if they really want to go, although I understand there is inner fear every parent feels about safety. It`s normal, but people travel when they are young and have a lot of energy for that, when we are older, we travel when we physically can –once per year is mostly enough if even that. So if not now, when? Let kids live their dreams.
Thank you Ana’s Mom for sharing with the other parents and travelers your experience of traveling with your daughter!
