Just half an hour by bus from Bariloche lies one the top 10 most beautiful views in the world-the view from Cerro Campanario.
Getting there: take bus 20 from the main square of Bariloche – ask the locals for the exact location of the bus stop. Ones you are in the bus ask the bus driver to let you know when to get down for Cerro Campanario. The bus ride is about half an hour. From where the bus drops, you just have to cross the street, walk for a bit and get to the cable car for Cerro Campanario. In case you use a GPS, the cable car is located at km 17.5 along Ave Bustillo.
Climbing up: At the bottom of the mountain you have 2 options: take the cable car or walk. I suggest you take the cable car up and descend by walk for the view and you do the hike up for the ones who love hiking.
The cable car takes few minutes and the hike around 20-25 min if you are in a medium-good physical shape, if not it may take longer. Be aware that the hiking trail is pretty steep and appropriate shoes may be needed. If it is bad weather make sure you have the right hiking gear before you climb up.
Facilities at the top: you have a small restaurant with the view with reasonable prices and options. Other than that you have several terraces where you can enjoy your own snack or just a moment of relaxation.
Opening times: the cable car and the restaurant at open from 9 AM to 6 PM. The view is available for you any time of the day (and night if you prefer). Be aware that if you go after 6 PM people will tell you it is closed and you cannot go up. But this actually means that the cable car is closed and if you have to get to the top you have to walk.
The view from the top: If you manage it to get to the one of the most beautiful and heart taken views in the world, the only thing is left is to take your time to enjoy any of the 360 angles of the view of Lake Nahuel Huapi and the surroundings.
